A Bird In Bloom

It’s Just Beautiful To Watch

The blue peacock (Pavo cristatus) originally came from India and Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. It is the national bird of India.

In Greek mythology it was known as the queen of the Gods (Hera). The Romans used to eat them (some sources claim the peacock tongue was a delicacy in Roman times).

Around the 14th AD they were widespread in Europe and usually owned by rich and powerful individuals.

Today you can see them on NBC as their symbol.
