Ex U.S. Marine Jared Heine says Spike was like his brother or his kid during their tour together in Afghanistan. Spike’s job was to sniff out explosives for his handler.
Spike spent many years with U.S. Marine Jared Heine, until Heine was sent home to Louisiana after several brain injuries. After many years of protecting each other in Afghanistan, Heine and Spike were split up, and Heine began struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.
With Jared always talking about how much he was missing Spike, Mary (Jared’s mother) decided to try to track Spike down with the help of friends on Facebook to help her son. She eventually got news that Spike was in Virginia working with the Virginia Capitol Police.
